Department of Transport Fees

Transferring to a vehicle from a V750 certificate of entitlement attracts a DOT fee of £80.00

In transferring a registration to your vehicle from a V778 retention document there will be a charge of £105.00 and this may even be £130.00 based on the requirement for the addition of a nominee name to the document prior to assignment.

When transferring a registration from your vehicle to a V778 retention document there will be a charge of £105.00 levied by the Department of Transport.

The least expensive option for transferring your registration from a vehicle applies when transferring from one vehicle to another vehicle and in which case the DOT fee charged is £80.00

There are variations on these DOT fees where vehicles registered in Northern Ireland are involved in the assignment process and this is because of the different transfer schemes in operation between the UK mainland and Northern Ireland.

Value Added Tax

Value Added Tax (VAT) will apply in certain cases and will not apply in other cases. The application of VAT will be determined by the source for the registration.

If the registration is a government stock registration then VAT will be applied to the base price and not to the DOT fee.

Where registrations are being marketed and sold on behalf of private clients there will be either part VAT or no VAT charged.

Value Added Tax (VAT) will be applied at the standard rate for those registrations that are sold on behalf of VAT registered businesses.
